Thread for Male factor Infertility

Hi Kwife

We had 2 IUIs but the 1st one failed mainly because it was so late in cycle (we thought we had missed the opportunity as follicles not reacting with meds) but when I went back for a scan on day 40 (something like that) follicles were perfect size - they said they would go ahead and I was so desperate I said yes - should have know it wouldnt work with an egg that old - anyway our 2nd time was a success and I only have 9 days till my due date :o)ll
IUI is like a smear test actually less uncomfortabe and I think 2nd time round you are less stressed cause you know what to expect
good luck :babydust:

Hi there,

Have just recieved bad news, azoospermia, needless to say :weep :weep :o( :o( very hard to deal with upset and so angry with life all at the same time. I hope these feelings will get easier to deal with.

We have app. with Dr. M at Hari on 22 Sept, just wondering if anyone has had experience of this and what the time frame will be before we find out if we have any hope?

any replies/advise would be greately appreciated.

Just from reading these posts I can see how strong, brave and supportive you all are it does make me feel better to know there might just be hope.

Hoping to hear some news good/bad from someone. it seems like we're on an Island, do we tell people don't we oh I just dunno what to do. Do we consider doner / adoption or what, oh lord i just don't know.

Sorry, ramblin now!

I posted on this forum a good while ago looking for advice on morphology.... My husband had 4 SA done last year in the Merrion which showed problems with both motility and morphology, morphology being in the very low range showing 1%, 2%, 3%... Anyhow the last one in the merrion was done in December with motility well within the average range and morphology at 3%. They were recommending ICSI.
He had another SA done with SIMS last week and he has been told that he is within normal limits, which is great news. They use a different criteria so it is not possible to see how much he improved but the lab technician said morphology was at 30% which he said is within normal limits. My husband has worked very hard on this, this year and I just thought I would let you know what he has been doing as it is something or all of the below.

Vitamins- Wellman Conception Multivitamin [1 tablet]
----------------
- Vitamin C [1090 to 2090mg]
- Fish Oil Concentrate [1000mg]
- Folic Acid [400 to 800ug]
- Vitamin E [300mg]
- Selenium [150 to 350ug]
- Zinc [45mg]
- L-Arginine [500 to 1000mg]
- Vitamin D3 [70ug]0
(above recommended by both GP and Napro practitioner)

We had a hair analysis done with Foresight in the UK which showed low selenium, slightly low zinc (started taking extra supplements then) and high levels of aluminium (started using aluminium free deoderants and stopped using tin foil to cover food)

Udos oil taken in yogurt every morning
Acupuncture (every 3 weeks)
Cut down on caffeine - we have both recently started de-caf and I don't notice the difference.
Cut down on alcohol
Diet - more fruit & veg.
Regular exercise.

We are delighted with results and hopefully it will make it easier for us to conceive. We were told at the time that there was nothing the consultant could recommend to improve morphology. However using the above it has and its a great relief.

Hi Cadeau, reading this thread is really enncouraging, we can help the guys out with stuff, it's not opt out time yet. Not sure what age you are exactly, but hopefully, you will have some time to get things sorted out. My hubbie was born when his Mum was 41 and his sister when she was 45!

Anyway, we got his sperm results back, not bad considering everything. He has been on 'man vits' for the last 2 months, so they won't be reflected in his result, so things should improve next time round. What is an issue is poor sperm progression - he had no rapid 'boys' and 80% of them were slow. Given that his count was 15 million (which CFC says is WHO's most recent poss standard) and a 11% morphology and I'm 41, we want what he has to be speedy runners! This is probably linked with increased vicosity.
Any hints on what he can eat/do to help the 'boys' to be speedy?
Thanks.

Really sorry to be welcoming you both (MM and Expectation), please God it will be a short stay for all of us. In terms of advice, it would be hard to top what Foxford has said, another helping hand that has been recommended is Maca (a herb).
I can't imagine how difficult yesterday was for you both, Expectation, hope you were able to hold onto the positive part of it all, there are sperm there. By all accounts, the boys can have a bad day, so you should see about getting another SA in a while, it may not be as bad. Thinking of you both.

Hi girls

Hope you don't mind me popping over here to ask a question. We have done 2 ivfs, both unsuccessful but with very good fertilisation rates. I have just this morning received the results of my partners DNA fragmentation test and it is not good - 29.5. I was just wondering if any of you ladie's dhs/dps have had a similar result? I know ICSI is used to improve fertilisation but as our fertilisation rate has never been a problem I was just wondering if ICSI is also used if there may be potentional chromosonal/DNA problems with the sperm?

Thanks so much for reading

annon4once sorry you are having a hard time at the minute, I don't know much about the results number wise but honest to god I'd give my right arm if they were my dh's!. We've had zero in his SA's and all you need is 1 to get pregnant! But we haven't found that 1.
Are you attending a clinic? I'm sure they can give better advice, hopefully the zinc etc has helped but as I say I don't know the numbers maybe one of the other girls can help. But if with those numbers you can't get bfp naturally, they are great for IVF/ICSI. I'm on a US site for male issues and 1 lady there after a biopsy of her DH's testes they found 10 sperm (10!!!!) and all 10 of her eggs fertilised, she has twins now and is going again for FET. So if you are feeling low, down, angry, scream or cry, let it out and pull yourself up by your bootstraps and take a step to getting proper medical advise if you aren't already doing so.
Wishing you the best of luck and hoping that bfp is around the corner :action32

Hi ladies
I got my BFP at wk end I thought the below info may b of help?
The things i did differently

i boughts boots mother & father to be vitamins for DH & I (DH had V low count)
i bought green tea, max 1 cup a day, if even.
DTD evry 3 days up to peak day, dtd peak day morning! (sat night, tues night & friday morning)
Had reflexology night before OV
drank plenty of pineapple juice after ov & 1 fresh Pineapple straight after Ov.
(2 medium glasses a day)
Prayed to St. Anthony - saint of miricles & help.

my reflexologist is
http://www.angelroom.co.uk/pages/workshops.htm

the thing i found strange was i usually get two peak days, Pk 1 was the fri night, i felt eggie breaking out, & on the sat i didnt get my smilie face again, reckon eggie met spermie on fri night.

my initial symptons were itchy thighs & belly from about 10dpo, itr was almost like when you hair on your thighs are static with a balloon near them?? does that make sense?
from 15 dpo always hungry, and frequent longer pee's,lol
now i have sore / itchy nipples

i hope this helps you ladies, dont give up hope. i wish you all luck on this journey & feel free to ask anything you like.

to you all xx
