PCOS & TTC Chat

Re: PCOS & TTC Chat

Postby hopefor2012 » Tue Dec 20, 2021 6:17 pm

Hi everyone,

I've been lurking around this forum for ages now, had been previously looking up dresses, flowers and venues, quite a change to move over to ttc!

I've had medical issues for the last year and a half, finally diagnosed with pcos about 9 months ago, I've been on glucophage, had the lap and ovarian drilling done, tubes were very blocked. having regular acupuncture too. Tracking at the moment but still have hugely irregular periods and will probably have to go on clomid next year.

I guess I'm writing today because I feel like its my brain and heart that are in bits, not just my bloody ovaries!, Christmas is killing me this year. I just cant wait for it to be over and done with, if I see one more ad with loving families I'm going to throw the tv out the window. It's been such a sh*t year with all the meds, operations and dozens of doctors visits, ultrasounds etc, I'm just so worn out mentally and emotionally. I'm dreading Christmas day, I've loads of nieces and nephews and I'm always the aunty whos changing nappies, running around after them and generally being very mary poppins. I just dont have it in me this year, I'm such an emotional rolercoaster I just done know if I can keep it all in.

Have you any advice for me? please help ladies, I'm sobbing here watching silly christmas movies! thank you! :)

hi all,

i don't post loads on here but have found this site and wollies great for info and advice. just a little background info got married 2009 came off pill end 2009,started ttc early 2010 and nothing so went to doc 6 mts later had bloods results underactive thyroid and pcos was gutted. over next few months got meds for thyroid sorted. started to get healthy just small changes eat well during week and went for 20-30 mins walk (still had cuppa and 2 biscuits in eve). feb 2011 had lap and dye and was suggested dh get sa done -results were'nt great dh was told eat healthy ,exercise, don't wear jeans every day and DON'T have lap top on knee or mobile in front pocket especially internet ones, and to try wellman conception tablets. 3 months later dh went back for sa results NORMAL we could'nt believe it and were trilled we were'nt expecting these results. i had asked doc for referral letter to hari clinic as with my cycles all over the shop we were sure we would need help. but to our surprise in sept we got our bfp we nearly would'nt believe it untill we seen our scan at 12 weeks. we had a rocky start to pregnancy and are now 18 weeks and thankfully all going well fingers crossed it will stay that way. good luck to all ttc :babydust:

i also have some ovulation tests and pregnancy tests if anyone would like them just let me know.

Hi girls,

Haven't been on in a bit, just wanted to respond to hopefor2012 cos think a lot of us could be feeling miserable this christmas after a year of being prodded and all sorts of tests! I know I'm finding it hard to be my usual self this Christmas and find myself just wishing for this year to be over. Like you say hopefor2012, it seems like Christmas is all about families and you just can't escape the images everywhere! I know exactly how you feel, have been on meds since March with constant scans and disappointments over the last few months. The only thing I could say is that you've had all the very invasive ones now and seems like they are being very proactive which is a lot better than waiting on them to do stuff...Clomid works for a lot of people so fingers crossed that next year could be a lot easier for you. I'd say just to let yourself feel how you're feeling and don't keep it all to yourself if you have anyone to talk to and then try get some pma for the new year if you can xx

ellimay, big congrats to you! It's amazing what a difference a few changes in diet etc can make. We've made a lot of changes too but will just have to keep at it. best of luck over the next few months!

lucktoyou, big congrats to you too, stories like this give us hope :-)

missiegold, hope things are looking good for you. I think the meds do change cycles a bit so prob why af was different. You're right I do need to stand up for myself more so that's my new year's resolution...well early resolution as I've sent a letter to the head doc saying I'm not happy with how things are going, and now I'm freaking out about it of course!

feelinbroody, hope you get your christmas bfp. great that ovulated!

Well happy christmas everyone!

thanks a million for the reply, christmas was a bit rough, I'm quietly taking down a lot of decorations, hubbie isnt too impressed but I really feel positive about 2012 and just want to get christmas finished and move on to the new year! cycles havent settled at all, havent had a period in two months. have taken a break from acupuncture too, just need a bit of headspace.

We've decided to contact the adoption agency, I just want to feel that no matter what happens with my crazy ovaries that we will have a family somehow.
Roll on new years and a fresh start.

How's everyone doing? hope everyone is ok :wv

PCOS and IVF

Postby 1Baby » Mon Jan 16, 2022 10:46 am

Hi girls

Unfortuntely I've been on ttc for over 3 years now. Bumpy ride with 5 miscarriages and various procedures, proding about and pill popping. You know yourself ! Anyway, we are on the ivf road but unfortunately this ivf cycle was cancelled due to high estrogen levels before I even started taking any medication. I'm a bit anxious as I believe high estrogen levels are another symptom of pcos and maybe it will never come down low enough for me to start ivf.

Just wondering if anyone else on the pcos/ivf road that can offer some advise / positive stories??

Thanks girls :wv

Hey girls,
Haven't been on in a while - just had my hospital appointment and am feeling a bit down. I had the lap test done in Nov and it showed no blockages so all clear. However, the consultant after at first telling me clomid would be the next option has now decided that injections would be best and in order to get them I would have to lose another 1/2 stone - I have already lost 2 and am quite deflated about that. He also has refered us for IVF as he says it is a long process and chances are we could get pregnant on our own or wit the help of the injections. I know its great that he has started that process but I just am feeling a bit low about the whole thing. I spent a couple of years trying not to get pregnant and now I would do anything to be pregnant!!
I hope that the past few mths have been good to you'se on the thread and hope that 2012 brings with it :babydust: and happiness for you'se all (including me!!)

its great that you've moved along another step in the process but it just seems like there's always another step! I know how you feel though, sometimes all these appointments, trying to digest more information and psyche yourself up to keep going can be really tough. have you a way of minding youself, doing something nice for yourself?

Hi all,
Hope you all doin well. Did 3 round of clomid, no joy. started metformin tues.
On th ol metformin 4 days now, would always have drank alot of water but last couple of days have been feeling a thirst even tho im drinking water throughout the day.
This would be the only side effect apart from some quesyness.

Lavendar Pink I am on my third week of metformin and while I haven't noticed an increased thirst, for the past week or so I have been really constipated and bloated! While it could be some of the other Napro meds I really think its the met. So uncomfortable! My skin has also improved a lot and I'm not sure if thats the met or the other Napro meds.

Thanks for your reply Perle.
I'm gettin on quite well on them so far, just taking 1 a day for 2 weeks and then up to 2.
Doc said they take better to ppl with a BMI under 30 which mine is so dono if its that or not.
Had a friend on it and she just ddnt take to it well at all! So guess its different for everyone.
The thing I'm most looking forward to is my skin improving!! :hyper:
