TTC > 12months and/or with assistance?

Room for one more ladies? Right - our story so far...(apologies for the length :-8 )

I came off the pill just over two years ago. We weren't TTC but we weren't using anything to prevent pregnancy either iykwim? We figured we'd have a "happy accident" and when nothing happened we just laughed and thought that next month would be our little surprise; next month, next month, next month. I was at my old gp's for another matter and I mentioned it to him in passing, that we weren't really "trying" but we weren't "not trying" either and I was worried that there might be an issue (this was about 18 months ago). He said that we're only young and to give it some more time. Sure we're grand the way we are, it's only if you start actually trying-trying that you have problems right? Once we're not trying it'll happen...

December 2010 we started to think "okay, so we're one of those couples who needs to be actually trying, that's grand, sure we'll concentrate a bit more on timing and we'll have a BFP in no time". Nothing. Not diddly-squat. N.O.T.H.I.N.G. We had moved at that stage so I found a new GP and she did my bloods for me - all came back absolutely grand, no problems that she could find. Give it time, she said, most couples take 2 years to conceive. It'll be fine, you just need to relax.

Meanwhile, everyone around us is getting pregnant, some after m/c's, some after being told there's no hope for them, some accidently. That's fine, it'll be our turn next, these things happen in 3's, so I know 7 people pregnant, well there needs to be 9 for it to be 3's so there's room for us. So I know 11 people pregnant, there needs to be one more for it to be us. Currently there's 12 people pregnant and NONE of them are us. :o(

H2B is going to get his SA done, and blood tests, and we're both going to start acupuncture and try chinese medicine. I confided in my Mam about what stage we're at, and as someone who went through the same thing (my brother and I are both adopted) you'd think she'd understand...but all I heard was "oh you're just too uptight, you're trying TOO HARD, you just need to RELAX". I honestly could have throttled her. O:|

So that's my sob story (so far). I'm hoping that 2012 brings us the little miracle that we're longing for. Christmas this year was so, so hard; 2 FSIL's were pregnant, and the other had her little man's first Christmas to celebrate. Almost every woman I know is pregnant and I just feel so...empty. :o(

Okay, just finished the 226 page marathon!

Well girls, it's been amazing reading all of the stories here, both the positives and the negatives and I feel like I've been on the rollercoaster with you all the way. I noticed that toward the end the thread seemed to have died a death, so can we please, please get this going again? The support and help that was here was amazing and while I can't speak for others I know that some days I could really use the sense of community that you girls had back in the heady days of 2006-2009!

:wv :wv HappyChic. So far we are on 17th cycle TTC. Its been a long road, although yours has been a longer one.

HippyChic wrote:.Meanwhile, everyone around us is getting pregnant, some after m/c's, some after being told there's no hope for them, some accidently. That's fine, it'll be our turn next

I found this too. I have given up counting the number of people becomming pregnant (at least 14 since we started) and always wishing it was my turn. Although Im genuinly happy for them all, its the "happen accidents" that get to me.. Heres DH and myself trying everything and there are those few couples just DTD randomly and BFP.. DH got his SA done last friday and we are awaiting results. I got 3 day and 21 day bloods done. All is good there so we will see.

Your mum doesnt sond to have been too supportive for you. I havent told our parents we are TTC. I find this forum great for discussing things. HAve you a good friend or relative you can talk to perhaps?

Its such a tough road that can just drain you emotionally and leave you feeling "empty" as you say. At least we can lean on each other for support. Its the positive stories of long time TTC getting their BFP that keeps me focused..

:babydust: :babydust: :babydust: :babydust: :babydust: :babydust: :babydust: to you and your DH and good luck with the tests x

babyhopesanddreams2012 - thanks so much for your reply. Have to say, I had a melt-down on the phone with my Mam this morning and she was much more supportive than last time, don't think she realised we were as upset as we are until now. I do have a few others that I can talk to but they're pregnant now so it makes it harder, for them and for me!

Yeah, counting pregnant women and babies born we're at 15 since we started TTC. I'm so happy for them but at the same time I can't help but be envious. My poor H2B, his sister is due next week and he's already worrying about how he's going to pass of his tears of "happiness" :o(

Still though, all went well with doctor today and she's getting the ball rolling with the fertility clinic for us so here's to progress for us all in 2012! :babydust: :babydust: :babydust:

I spent the last 2 days reading it, god girls, the ups and down and info contained in here, amazing stuff so leave it open in another tab and read through at your leisure. I was actually really sad when I got to the end, like I'd lost some good friends (kinda like when you get to the end of a really, really good book) :-8 :o0

Let's get this going again for sure! :o)ll

LullaBelle - I just replied on your other post but best of luck with your appointment next week - we're currently waiting for one ourselves, was in with the GP about getting the referral letter sent this morning!

Hi ladies,

This could be a great thread alright if it got some more traffic!!! The new 2ww for longtimers is a great idea for a thread also but i can't post on that as i'm never on a flippen 2ww!!! I've only had 3 periods since last January. If you could call them periods!!! 3 light bleeds is probably a more fitting description. To make a long story short i don't think i'm ovulating at all. Spent 10 years on dianette which is a much stronger pill than most so i'm blaming that and have vowed never to go back on the pill again!!! I started Acupuncture last week, have my 2nd app this eve. Hoping this will bring my currently 140 day cycle to an end. Have an app with Fertility clinic next month and i'm hoping it'll be as simple as being put on clomid to kick start my ovaries but also am afraid that it might not be that simple and in a way dread what i might find out!

merrykitty, hopefully i'll be celebrating my first smiley face too in early march :)

LullaBelle - Best of luck with your app, please let us know how you get on!

Happychic and babyhopesanddreams12 - tell me about it, every one of my best friends (11 of them in total) now all have babies or are pregnant and most of them got married after us. Don't get me wrong i am delighted for them but it is hard all the same!

Happychic - hopefully you'll get an app with fertility clinic soon and your bfp won't be long coming round,

babyhopesanddreams12 are you waiting on a fertility clinic app or have you gone down that road yet?

Ever hopeful again, all the best for ttc no 2! Hopefully it's a short stay for you on the ttc boards this time!
Came off pill Jan 2011 but very long and irregular cycles.
First fertility app in Feb 2012 - confirmed PCOS
Started on Clomid Feb 12, fingers and toes crossed!
1st Round of Clomid 50mg CD 1-3 - Day 21 Prog 46.8
2nd Round of Clomid 50mg CD 1-3 - Day 21 Prog 27 (ov'd on day 18)
3rd Round of Clomid 50mg CD 1-5 - Day 21 prog .5 (ov'd on day 21)
4th Round of Clomid 100mg CD 1-3 - Last round before lap and dye in July!!! Fingers crossed!

babyhopesanddreams, best of luck with the SA results. If i were you though regardless of todays results i would make an app with a fertility clinic as there's so many other things that they can investigate other than hormone analysis of your day 3 and 21 bloods. 17 months is a long time to be trying and it won't do any harm to go to an expert other than your gp. Hope you don't think i'm sticking my oar in where its not wanted but it's just that it comes to a stage where you have to say ok we need help here and for me that came a couple of months ago and i made my app and even though i'm going private it'll be 3 months before i'm seen so maybe its no harm to get the ball rolling and if you end up getting pregnant in the meantime then you will take great pleasure in cancelling that app!!!

Had my 2nd acu app yest so here's hoping i will get a period soon!!! He's kinda shocked that someone can go 140 days with no period so i must be the worst case he ever had :duh:

Hi girls...great thread! Its so nice to have the support of other people in this situation. My story is ttc since Sept 2010 with no joy. I have PCOS and while I almost always ovulate, my cycles are very long. Two rounds of clomid and a lap later I still have not managed by bfp. Starting charting my cycles with napro now so hopefully this will be our year.

Babydust to all! :babydust:

Hi perle,

Do you mind me asking if it was your doc that prescribed you the clomid or did you go to another fertility clinic first? I'm waiting on my fertility app next month and like you i have really long cycles (presently 141 days!!) and i have self diagnosed myself with PCOS too but obviously as i'm not a doctor i could be wrong but i have a lot of the symptoms except for the weight issue. Anyways, in a way i was half thinking i'll just need clomid to kick start the ovaries but from reading your post i can see that thats a stupid assumption to make! Hope you have success with napro :babydust:
