TTC > 12months and/or with assistance?

Re: TTC > 12months and/or with assistance?

Mar09 - the fertility clinic prescribed the clomid and tracked me those months to see what was happening. On those cycles I ovulated on cd 21. The fertility clinic didn't seem to be concerned by the fact that I was ovulating so late but I really think that it indicates a problem. Maybe a bad egg or something? Anyway, i'm dying to see what the napro doctor has to say about that. Like you I thought that clomid would be the answer but it wasn't. The only thing I would say is that it should make you ovulate so if you are not getting pregnant simply because you are not ovulating then you may very well have success with it. I really hope you do and lots of women have gotten pregnant on clomid so don't lose hope!

Thanks Perle, i would have thought that it was ok to ovulate anytime up to cd21 as a cycle is considered normal as long as its not over 35 days so ovulating on day 21 would have given you a 35 day cycle? it will be interesting to hear napro's opinion on that alright. Would you mind letting me know please?
Came off pill Jan 2011 but very long and irregular cycles.

Will do. Like you I have all PCOS symptoms except being overweight. Its such an awful thing to have but it seems that most people who have eventually have children. It just takes a bit longer.

Hi girls, just popping in to ask a question, hope that's ok. I'm starting my 11 cycle ttc#2 (had no issues ttc#1).

I'm attending Dr Rishi in the Rotunda, I've done 4 unmoritored cycles of clomid (50mg) and think it did make me ovulate as got a peak on cbfm (am due results of 7dpo to confirm ov). Dh had SA done, and all fine.My day 3 and amh bloods were good. Had hsg done and that was fine too.

Just wondering what my options are? -I have an apt next week with cons but want to do some research myself first

Hi Buttons,

Sorry to be of absolutely no help to you at all but just wanted to say that it sounds like you're well on top of it all and that you are doing all you can to find out if there is any problem. I'm sure the consultant will be able to recommend your next steps and i hope it all works out for you and that you get your bfp soon. At least all your test results look good so far. Best of luck with the cons.

Girls, can any of you answer a question for me? Have gone to the doctor and she has sent off a referral for us to see someone in the fertility clinic in Cork through the public system. Does anyone know how long it will be before we hear anything back/how long the current wait times in Cork are? :babydust: to ya all

Hey Hippychick,

not sure about Cork but in Dublin I was told the wait can be up to 1 year ;o(
I'm almost 40 and didn't want to waste any more time, that's why I went private and got an appointment within 1 month.
Best thing is to call the clinic and they'll be able to tell you how long the wait will be.

Good luck x

Thanks girls. Got the letter from the clinic today to confirm that we're on the waiting list. Can't afford to go private at the minute, too many out-goings and a wedding to save for (and I'm only a lowly student so no income on my side of things :o( ). Ah well, at least we have the ball rolling now and in 20 months the wedding will be over and we'll be able to put money in baby-making (or a house fund is for some reason the universe is kind to us in the meantime and I get knocked up! :o0 ).

Mar09, to answer your question above regarding the late ovulation, I met with the Napro doctor and he seemed to think that as I ovulate so late in my cycle (anywhere between day 21 and day 36) I might be having a poor quality ovulation. Its interesting to note that ovulation isn't enough...quality matters. This makes perfect sense to me and seems to have been ignored by the fertility clinic. Anyway, am on lots of different drugs now to try to imprive the quality of the ovulation so here's hoping it works.

Mrs ODC, you are very welcome. We all have good days and bad days so don't beat yourself up about it. Regarding your doctor's view that you don't have PCOS, is he basing this solely on utrasound? Most doctors will also do bloods on day 3 and day 21 of your cycle so maybe this would show up something?

Hippy Chic thats good the ball is rolling for ya and your on the waiting list. Hopefully you wont be waiting too long for an appoint..

Perle fingers crossed the quality of ov improves for you.. Its maddening to know the fertility clinic overlooks it.

My gp has referred me for a pelvic ultrasound. Waiting for them to send me an appointment. Does anyone know what the wait is or how much it is for it?

Perle, i totally agree with you i would think if you haven't ovulated by day 21 then it might not be good quality egg but i would say anything up to day 21 would be ok. I'm hoping that the clomid will make my body ovulate anywhere from day 14 to day 21, that would be a cycle of 28 - 35 days which would be considered normal. Very normal in my eyes considering my last cycle was 6 months long :yelrotflmaosmilie:
I have to have my bloods done on day 21 and if that doesn't show ovulation then she will increase my dosage and keep doing that until she does see ovulation.

Buttons, how are you getting on? Did your 7dpo bloods show ovulation?

MrsOC09, sorry to hear about your miscarriage, have you had your bloods checked on day 21 or 7dpo on the clomid to see if its working?

babyhopesanddreams, sorry i have no idea about the waiting list time for the pelvic ultrasound. Hope you're not waiting too long for it!
