Breastfeeding Support - Part IIRe: Breastfeeding Support - Part II
Justwed, I drink Fennel tea as it's supposed to help your supply and is good if baby has wind issues. Maybe you could try that?

Re: Breastfeeding Support - Part II
No issue with either, first time mammy and I was terrified of starving the little pet ![]() So, you recommend keeping up 3 hourly feeds during the day and letting him decide when it wants it in the night time? The thought of sleep is so tempting! ![]() Re: Breastfeeding Support - Part II
mrs g, i'd just feed on demand. both of my dd's would feed 2 hourly during the day, and then do longer stretches at night.
Re: Breastfeeding Support - Part II
Mrsg don't worry we've all been there? Yes I would feed on demand in the day and no less than every three hours. So in other words if baby looks for a feed anytime give it but if in three hours she hasnt give her one anyway! That's what I did. I think I also fed a little more before bed so maybe give her as much as u can before bed and then just let her wake u.
Re: Breastfeeding Support - Part II
Girls wondering if anyone has any advice on the below post:
viewtopic.php?f=29&t=357311 The amount of dirty nappies seems excessive and I don;t think I'll get his rash under control till it dies down- is this all normal at this stage? I thought by this stage he would be feeding and pooing a bit less. Re: Breastfeeding Support - Part II
Amandamac i use water wipes too but dont ga e any problems with them. Try bathing him with sone porridge oats in the water. On ds i found for nappy rash good was mix sudocream and cornflour together and paste it on. It works after a day or two.
Girls im startingto wean today. I am extremwly run down, hve cold sores am exhausted and ha e a throat virus . Was at phn and gp tuesday with ny throat and both agree hes a very hungry baby so told me to think about it not o be a martyr to breastfeeding. I dropped one adternoon feed yesterday and today so will drop another tomorrow. Dd still waking every 2 hours now during the night and with top ups and a bf it takes nearly an hour and half to feed her abd shes awake again for more so its very draining on me. So i feel guilty and sad to be giving ul this soon but i dont think i can keep it up, its too much for me at the moment. [url=http://www.baby-gaga.com/]

Re: Breastfeeding Support - Part II
Justwed, you've got to do what's right for you. Chin up and don't feel guilty. As long as mama and baby are happy, that's the most important thing. Look after yourself and get yourself back in good health. I found Pregnacare great for a boost - the ones with the oils as well. Hopefully something like that will get you back to full strength and get rid of your coldsores etc.

Re: Breastfeeding Support - Part II
Just wed I could have written your post 2 months ago. I too was bf a very very hungry lo. She wouldn't take bottles and still won't but I have her now taking 3 oz formula at 9 so she will sleep linger at night. I had the most awful throat infection and high temp when she was 4 weeks because she wouldn't take bottles I had to lie in the bed with her attached to me! Ur supply goes down when ur sick so they suck more to build it up. U could try a soother between feeds to satisfy her need to suck and try giving formula for night time only. Its amazing what a good night sleep will do
Re: Breastfeeding Support - Part II
So Im still b/f but still struggling. DD is 4 weeks. Shes putting on weight but just not settling well.
Not finding it hard all the time but at some stage most days. She hungry all the time. She needs feeding every 1 to 2 hours. We get one 4 hour stretch during the day and a 3 hour stretch at night (We had 2 good nights last week but they weren't repeated) Shes wants constant feeding from 8 to 12 at night, takes an hour to settle then sleeps til 4/4:30 and doesn't really settle for rest of night, slleeps on and off, for a max of an hour at any time. Im so tired. Is this normal? I had a cut nipple and blocked ducts and all this feeding is breast/nipple is starting to hurt me again.
Re: Breastfeeding Support - Part II
i'm sorry to say it is normal
![]() does your older baby nap? could yourself and bubs take to the bed at that time? Re: Breastfeeding Support - Part II
posted this as a new topic and then realised that htis already existed... my poor head!!!
Hi there My son is 9 weeks old and I have a few queries. In the beginning, he was feeding every 3 to 4 hours. Since last week, he has started sleeping through the night. He goes down about 9 or ten and sleeps til 7ish could be before or could be after. Now he does mooch about and waken a couple of times during the night but this he either settles himself or I give him the dummy. Since he started sleeping through the night his feeds are more every 2 to 3 hours… I thought it was a growt h spurt but maybe its down to him making up for his long sleep? One thing that I’ve noticed particularly today is when he is feeding he will latch on, feed for 10mins or so and get his wind up but then got a bit fussy. I left him for a bit but then he started screaming and wouldn’t latch back on again. I ruled out wind as he got it up .. it seemed to be just tiredness and I was pushin boob back on and he simply didn’t want it, could this be the case???? Also is there a quota of both fore milk and hind milk. How long would a baby be bf befre the hind milk comes in… Also my boobs never empty at each feed and my son rarely falls asleep at breast at each feed except the night one, is this normal.. he is gaining weight and wetting and soiling nappies….
Re: Breastfeeding Support - Part II
Thanks Millis. Ive only got ds and dd to sleep at the same time a few days. She slept nearly all day so not looking forward to the night, the only time was a wake today was when ds was asleep. Currently suffering from a forceful let down....its yet another problen....b/f is becoming like an endurance test!
Re: Breastfeeding Support - Part II
Ladies, I'm looking for your wisdom! Last week my left nipple was in a really bad way with cracks, so the public health nurse recommend I pump the milk off that side and give the nipple a chance to heal for a few days. So I did, ds was getting the right boob and the contents of the left from a bottle. Now when I pumped I was getting 3 oz each time, 4 oz first thing in the morning. Anyway, the nip healed a bit and I went back feeding off it but now it's sore again, so I started pumping that side again today. This time though I'm struggling to get even 2 ozs when I pump! Where the hell is my milk gone? Myboobs don't even feel full at feeding time. Worried something has happened my supply and my little dude will starve.
Any ideas why I would be getting different amounts from last week? Ds is 3 1/2 weeks old, weighed last week and was9lb 4oz. Re: Breastfeeding Support - Part II
Hi Ladies,
Looking for some advice. My little girl is 6 weeks this Saturday and I'm exclusively breastfeeding her. I have been getting her weighed every week and for the past couple of weeks she hasn't gained much. Last week was 3ozs and this week was 4ozs. I wasn't surprised at last weeks gain as she had been pretty fussy the weekend before but she fed pretty well over the weekend so I was sure she would have a much bigger weight gain. I know its good that she is gaining and she has plenty of wet and dirty nappies but I don't think she is feeding for long enough. She will only feed on one side at each feed and will only feed for a max of 5-10 mins. I would be happy with that if her weight was going up faster. She can be very fussy and unsettled at times too. I thought she had reflux last week but she was fine over the weekend. How can I get her to feed for longer? I offer her both sides but she shakes her head and refuses to take the second side. If I try to put her back on the same side after age finishes she refuses it too. And she could easily go for 3.5 hours during the day without even looking for a feed. Does anyone have a similar experience or any advise on what I can do? I BF my son for 14 weeks and his weight gain was always great and he fed for much longer. Thanks PM Re: Breastfeeding Support - Part II
MrsGPants-can't help you with why your getting less now than before. But inrelation to your cracked nip, have sorted it? Did you work out why its cracked? Is Lo latching on properly?
Purplemammy-your lo is putting on weight, did someone (ie phn, doc) say they were concerned about amount?
