Hi all I sent away my donation of 13 bottles to milk bank. I've finished BF now so that is my only donation but I am so glad I did it. I treated myself with a giant glass of Chardonnay and a chippy!!

I just received my starter pack of 6 bottles. I had goosebumps reading the newsletter, the babies are so tiny.

The lady on the phone said you can say express 3 oz and freeze it in the bottle and then if you express say 4 oz the next day cool it right down in the fridge and then add it to the frozen milk, I didn't realise you could do this.

that sounds handy notlongtogo. i didnt realise you could do that either. fair play to you for doing the donations when you have a toddler and a 3 yr old too.

13 bottles is heaps! the babies can only handle an ounce or two at a time. so thats about 90 babies YOU HAVE HELPED polkadot! :o)ll :o)ll

walle - im back to work this week too :( but not dreeeeeading it so hoepfully it wont be too bad. best of luck xx

Yeh I think that's the right number but they're just busy. Everytime I've called I've only ever spoken to a woman called Ann so I think it's just her.

Thanks for the replies - I spoke with Ann last week and received my first 6 bottles last Friday, so I've been pumping away since then.

It's great to be able to help - especially having read the stories in the newsletter.

Well done on your donation notlongtogo!

To all the girlies who are expressing & donating milk to care for premature/sick babies a HUGE thankyou, if i could kiss u all i would! :xxx My darling son was born prematurely by 3 months bcos of a life threatening condition that i developed at 6 months. I had a VERY low supply of milk & at the start had very little to give him. As a result he was fed donors milk for the first few days to help give him the best start. He is now 4pounds, 5 ounces & is a little character :lvs By donating your milk what you are all doing for these little treasures I cannot put into words. You are literally extending a lifeline to these very much wanted & loved babies. Every time i think of the woman whose milk was fed to my baby the first few days i want to grab her & hug her so much.Without meaning to sound condescending you all deserve a medal for what you are doing but i know that this is not the reason you donate for. I know for sure that if i become pregnant again & i have a generous supply (heres hoping) i will be doing the very same thing that you all do so selflessly. I admire you all & owe you all so much.Thankyou again xxxx

mrs c - its lovely LOVELY to hear from someone who has been on the other end of the donation. am so delighted to hear that your DS has gotten on so well. maybe it was a wol's milk that helped him :) Did the midwives tell you about the donated milk or did you ask for it? i always wondered if hospitals kept a stock of it or do they have to express order it in!
