IUI 2011 Thread

Hi slanket, the count they give is after its been washed and prepared. I know you think 18 million is low but you only need 1...1 out of 18 million. Stay away from Dr Google, it'll drive you insane and you'll get different advice from every site.

We decided to give it a go ourselves this month so we'll know by the end of next week. I bought the ovulation tests in boots and didn't get a positive until day 17, I'm normally day 12 to 14 but I'd a terrible cold and took neurofen cold and flue....didn't read the small print, may impair fertility in women until you stop taking it then it'll go back to normal. Hope I didn't feck it up for myself

Well here's hoping.

Hope ye are all well, hope to see some BFP's here soon even if none of them are mine. :babydust: :babydust: :babydust:

Pm'd you lablady!

Thanks for getting back to me babywish 18 million doesn't seem so low if it's been washed and prepared, I thought it was low if it hadn't been washed but as it has it's not that bad.

All you ladies that have had an iui done in CFC would you mind going through the procedure for me (what days you had to go for scans etc) and what injectables they put you on?

Hi ladies

happy new year to all, lets hope it will be a good one :o)ll :o)ll ..

Slanket have you gone back to CFC?
I had scan there on 3rd and have 3 cysts so back on the pill now, have a scan on 20th to see if their gone. My AF came 2 days late in Jan and 5 days early in December so where do you go from there... :action34

DH swimmers are great but my FSH is a bit on high side so we are trying to decide whether to go down the IUI route once more and then stragith to IUI like yourselves or go straight to IVF now when pill is finished (as you need to go on pill before iVF too)
oooohh im so frustrated O:| O:|

Lablaady how you doing, have you gone back to CFC this year? are you on IUI also

best of lukc Deise hope the pill works!

DH said if he could sell the unused gym equipment in our shed for what he wants for it we might try a cycle paid by us in cfc, she said she would not let hse know, however its been nearly a month since he posted the advert and has only sold one of them... ah well, live in hope of August coming round quickly!

Hi all,

How are we all doing?

Deise girl I've gone back to CFC, I'm on cd 14 at the moment and waiting to ovulate so bar a minor miracle I'll be starting my first iui in early feb!! I don't usually ovulate until cd 16/17 so once I do I'll ring up CFC & book in for my pre-iui scan.

Can anyone who has gone through iui particularly in CFC go through the different steps for me & how often I'll need to go for scans etc...?

Thanks ladies!

Hey, we tried on our own this cycle...AF was due last Thursday...no sign. Really got my hopes up...the witch arrived this morning...gutted. I guess I was kidding myself thinking that it might work when 4 IUI's couldn't give me a BFP. Sorry, I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself. DH isn't here, he works 150 miles away during the week which doesn't help the situation either coz I could really do with a hug. I'd nearly pay someone to hug me now!!!

Hope to see some BFPs here soon, I don't think there's been 1 since I joined in October, we're due some good news. Fingers crossed for ye all. :babydust: :babydust:

Hi all

Hope it is ok for me to jump in -
we have been married for almost 8 years and ttc for almost 8 years - we did a few cycles of ovulation induction back in 06/07/08 and then took a break because it was becoming very hard to stay sane.

We have decided to return to "trying" and have been told that we should do 1 cycle of IUI and if we have no success on that then it is on to IVF. I am 32 and have PCOS and the hospital seem to have difficulty in getting a consistent response from injections. In the past I have over or under simulated on the same cocktail of drugs!

Just want to introduce myself - have been reading through the stories on the thread and it is great to see successes -

Hi ladies,

Just re-introducing myself. I have dipped my toe in here before, but have not done IUI yet. I changed username since then and have settled on this one - for now!

Due to circumstances we were not going to be able to do IUI until March, but now think we will be able to start in Feb. Have to get a scan done this week if I am to do it in Feb, and also have to get a blood test for familial clotting issues, so will make some calls tomorrow. I think I was putting off this test as I thought we might get a pleasant surprise before we had to take any more steps! Now I am under pressure to hopefully get the bloods done this week, I'm not sure how long it will take to get results in time for this cycle to start.

Just wanted to ask anyone who has done IUI did ye have any major side-effects from the meds? I would be using Puregon and the Pregnyl Trigger Shot I think. Just a little fearful of OHSS - it would be just my luck to get it!

Have there been any lovely BFPs since the start of 2012? Best of luck to anyone about to do a cycle!!!

Welcome faithful and broodymissus :wv

Well I've booked my pre-iui scan so hopefully I'll be starting the injections by the end of next week, I'm cd 21 today so barring a minor miracle I'll be having my iui around valentines day :lvs , hopefully that will be a good omen!!

Does anyone have any tips they could give me for the iui, I've read of people drinking loads of water....what is this for??

I'm going into this with a very open mind and to be honest I'm not holding out much hope, based on success rates and my gp telling me it was a waste of time, but as we have unexplained secondary infertility and got pregnant without any help before I'm hoping this could be the little bit of help that we need to give our dd a little bro or sis.

Broodymissus I think I'll be using the same meds as you so would be interested to hear this as well! When are you starting your iui?, I reckon I'm going to need a buddy to get through it! We are with CFC.

Hi Slanket, we are going to CFC too. Hoping to start the meds next week. I called this morning and got an appointment so all systems are go. I am feeling positive but not pinning my hopes on this. We are unexplained too, so will just see how it goes. Currently on cycle 21 and I just know that I am not pregnant.

I spoke to nurse on phone this am and she was fine for us to get started even if other blood test isn't back before we start. Since we weren't gearing up for Feb I don't have too much time to overthink it which is a good thing!

Best of luck with it. Looks like we will certainly be cycle buddies now :wv

Hi ladies

We are also with CFC - just waiting on results from smear and for AF to arrive so that we start - God only knows when that will come.

Should you get scanned at the start of the cycle before starting injections?

Hi Faithful, the scan is done before next AF starts. If you are waiting on it to come then maybe now would be a good time to book for the scan. Do you know when you OV or do you OV at all? I would try and time the scan for after OV if you can pin point that.

Do you mind me asking what meds you were on before? Was it through CFC? Just wondering about the overstimulation thing, don't fancy that!

I am currently on day 33 - my cycles are very irregular can range from 40 days to 100 days
CFC have given me a prescription for gonal f and glucophage and told me to start injecting on day 3 of my next cycle. They gave me a prescription for provera in case af doesn't come for a long time and they said I would need to get scanned before taking that. But otherwise to just work away on day 3 and start injections.

Last time we went to GFU and I was on Clomid and glucophage for a few cycles - no response at all for me - we then went on menopur and I tried various doses - some cycles were cancelled due to over response - it is heartbreaking and crampy - over cycles were cancelled due to no response.

I was on to a nurse in cfc the other day and she said your pre iui scan has to be done within a week of getting your af, she said ideally the day before or the first day of getting your af.

My prescription arrived in the post for the meds and I think it's the first time that it's really hit me that we are heading down this road, I always thought we wouldn't need help and would conceive natrually, and over 18 months later I'm still here :o(

I dropped the prescription up to the pharmacy and a girlfriend of one of DH's team-mates was working there so she took it, I was trying to avoid her but she came over and took it off me, I hope to god she doesn't start blabbing but I'm sure they have to treat everything confidential.

How are the rest of you all doing??
