Hi Wollies,

Martha Stewart has a whole sections on her wedding website for all sorts of DIY project from banners, to stationary templates and menu templates & table numbers etc

http://www.marthastewartweddings.com/ph ... -templates.

She also has cake recipes and icing tips for those making their own cakes and loads of tips on wedding etiquette too.

Hope that helps some of you guys as much as it helped me.

Great idea for a seperate topic Roma!

Some lovely DIY ideas on here too
http://www.weddingchicks.com/
They've got lots of templates for invitations, save the dates, wedding monograms and lots more.

I'm nervous to go down the DIY route as I have a bad habit of starting projects and not finishing them (looks sheepishly as the bag of wool and knitting needles hidden in the corner :-8 ) but I am tempted to make a fake cake for cutting and decorate it myself.

Yep I second a recommendation for this site, very veeeery good for ideas for general presentation, and lots of free templates too. Although, I must admit I tried out one of the ideas to see how it worked out (the big tissue pompom thingys) and my one looked a bit sad and pathetic and took about 20 times longer than other people on there said it took them. H2B hated it on sight, so that's that idea knocked on the head! :yelrotflmaosmilie:

If any of ye are struggling in your search for the "perfect" stamp you can actually submit a design of your own for creation as a stamp at http://www.rubberstamps.buzzsites.co.uk ... _83501.cfm and it's very reasonable. I ordered two (the same design in two different sizes) and the total including postage came to £5.98. Can't argue with that!

Oh the stamps link is brilliant Roma!
for a very inexpensive personalised monogram you could design one for free on Weddingchicks and then have it made into a stamp using that site. Very chic and on trend for a very reasonable price!

And I also love the idea of making a sort of life size frame for all our guests to come and pose at. Kinda like these photos

StupidSexyFlanders wrote:It was fairly handy to work with. I purchased it from http://www.istockphoto.com - I found it on that site by searching for "damask" and filtering the search to Illustrations only - that will give you loads of results (it won't let me paste link to the results for some reason, but just type "damask" in the search box and click the box for "Illustrations" instead of "All Files" or else you'll end up with photos/videos etc. and a million results!). Once I downloaded it I cropped it to the size I wanted and was able to drop it into the Word document from there using the "Insert Picture" tool.

If you find one you like and are having trouble with manipulating it for Word let me know and I'd be happy to give you some help.

Hey SSF...I cant seem to get the image copied across to word correctly after i crop it and use the "insert the picture" icon...it comes out too small on word doc...hope this makes sense!! Invitations are fab and im really interested in doing these myself...thanks a mill :wv

I second istockphoto, all the best images are there, and they are all vector, so are scaleable if needed.

I've got all the bits and pieces for my invites now, i'm just wondering what is the best way to stick things together:

I have wide organza ribbon, and some orchid heads, and i'm hoping to put them together (a bit like the one here:

The trouble is, the ribbon is see through, and the orchid heads are quite wide.
Any suggestions on adhesives? I was thinking doublesided sticky tape for the ribbon, but i've never used glue dots, could they hold the orchid in place?

Akashla I haven't used glue dots for anything but if you have a look on www.diywedding.ie they have a few different types that they recommend for use when sticking decorative flowers.

They also have an invisible double sided tape that they say doesn't show through vellum and tracing paper - it might be suitable for the transparent ribbon.

What a great idea for a thread!

I looked up the DIY photo wall that DresstoImpress mentioned above and posted it on the WOL Blog. Such a great idea!

I love love love the idea of the photo booth. :heartbeat: :heartbeat: :heartbeat: Wonder how hard it would be to make it myself?? I'm already waiting for h2b to do 6 tall candle holders... have all the materials already.... Ikea for muslin curtains 5.99 will cover 4! I must post pics when he has it done. So I'm not sure how he'll feel if I ask him to do this!!! :duh: :duh:

Looking forward to more ideas.

Ok, so i bought the glue dots and DSST, and can't wait to give the invitations a trial run.

I also got vistaprint.ie to do up some stickers for me (it cost about 5 euro for 100 of them) and i'm going to pop them into the save the date cards, so that people can stick them in their calendar.

I'm having trouble finding white favour boxes though, everything seems to be ivory or off white :(
