Motivation thread for losing weight...

I joined Slimming World last week and I had my first Weigh In yesterday - I've lost 4lbs!

Really, the Slimming World diet is cut out the sh!t (crisps, biscuits, etc) and lower intake of dairy and bread (but you still have an allowance of each every day) and you can eat as much fruit, vegetables, lean meat, poultry, pork, etc and pasta/rice and potatoes as you want. Its definitely working as lots of people from the group have lost 1stone or a stone and a half over the past 8-10 weeks.

My sister did Slimming World and found it very difficult to lose more than 1 lb a week. The woman who was weighing her said she should have been losing more and she was sticking with the plan religiously!

Does anyone know how much it costs to join online? I heard it was 90 euro :eek

This is great... Lots of us here to motivate eachother!

I think a weekly weigh-in is a good idea. I'll start...

reine - 10st6lbs. Weight loss goal: 21 lbs.

Janey mac... When I see it written down like that, it looks like a huge amount. I am a pig.

And weighing at a hefty eh eh - I actually don't know what I weigh at the moment! I go by how my clothes are fitting i.e do I need to tighten the belt ( :o)ll ) or do I have "camels hoof"! :yelrotflmaosmilie: (no, I've never had that!! :o0 )

Our WW weighing scales is broken, and we just never got around to replacing it. When we get one, I'll be back to tell you.

To all the wollies who pm'd me, I have my fingers crossed for you all, best of luck ladies. :xxx

Ok so here goes; I'm 10st 10 lbs from last week - I will update tomorrow cos I have no scales to hand at the moment and start from there and weigh again next Thurs. My goal weight is 9st - 9st 7lbs something like that. I've never been that slim before so will have to see how I feel when I get there. It's more important for me to feel and look healthy and toned rather than getting hung up about weight but obviously weight loss is a good indicator of the change to a healthier lifestyle.

Ok, can I join?? I don't really need to lose weight but I'm trying desperately to have an all round healthier lifestyle and to tone up and possibly lose a few pounds. I've gotten far too used to eating out and drinking wine midweek, eating late at night, chips at lunchtime etc - all terrible for me! My skin has disimproved as well.

I've been half following a sort of cave man diet (but not fully) but I find it so hard as I love carbs! BoR I'm going to check out the primal footprint diet - is it really difficult? I find the lack of (refined, i.e. bad) carbs tough going but then I notice my stomach is a lot flatter so it seems to be working. Lunch is the hardest meal I find - it's almost impossible to have a nice, filling lunch that doesn't involve some sort of bread/cheese/wheat ingredient.

Anyway - current weight - 9st
Target weight - 8st 8lbs so I want to lose 6lbs. It sounds like a lot cos I'm not heavy but I'm genuinely small boned and should be lighter - I was 8st 6lbs for my wedding and that was probably perfect. In fairness, if I don't lose any weight but tone up and become generally more svelte I'd be happy.

Also - anyone got good exercises/weights etc for toning arms? I do loads of weights - bicep curls/tricep press/barbells etc and still have slightly flabby arms! :weep

MM you sound similar to me in that I don't necessarily need to lose much weight or anything, maybe a couple of lbs but more so want to tone up a bit. I'm going the gym 3 times a week but not doing too much, 10 mins on the bike then half hour on the treadmill...I walk 3 mins then jog 3 mins then walk 3 jog 3 and so on - I get 4k done in 34 mins. I know it's not much but I am only starting exercising after a LONG break so it still kills me to do that, I was in a heap after it on Wed. Then I just do some sit ups etc. I'm hoping this much will start toning me up and then as my fitness levels build up a bit I'll hopefully be able to do more jogging, start jogging for more minutes that walking etc and build it up that way.

For the arms - I don't know really. My biceps are grand but I've got the old bingo wings going on at the moment. I suppose the tricep curls and the exercise where you use the chair as a rest and do sort or backwards push up things - that gets your triceps.

I can't even put my accurate weight up yet - weighed in my mam's and her scales told me I was about 6lbs lighter that I know I roughly am - so used my Weight Watchers one at home this morning and it told me 2 different weights - will be at a friend's on Sunday and will weigh myself there and see how much of the holiday weight I am still holding on to - realistically I only want to lose about 4/5lbs but really want to get tones bum, belly, arms and thighs.....not asking for much am I? :o0

Ok me too, weighed myself and I'm 9st 9. At 5'4 I'm a little heavier than I should be or want to be. I was around 9 when I got married (10 months ago) & I've gotten very lazy lately and haven't done any exercise :-8 Going to try start getting back into it and eating a little healthier or just a little less really as I find hubby giving me bigger meals then I would normally eat. For the last two months I've been stuck at this weight so hopefully I'll be a little lighter & healthier by Christmas. Will weigh back in next Thursday so all weight loss tips appreciated

Here's a trick, get yourself some "salad plates" or what the likes of Dunnes seem to think are their side plates, in thier boxes of dinner sets.
I tried a sneaky on hubby and after a week I told him what I did.....I served up our dinner on the Dunnes "side plates", the plate looked full but the portions were smaller. It's all an optical illusion apparently, hubby saw the full plate but couldn't finish the dinner, he said he was stuffed. He was gobsmacked when I told him my little secret, he thought it was a brilliant idea. Also, Motivation tell you to take at least 20mins eating your meals, and to put your knife and fork down every now and then. The first time he did that in his parents house, his Mum immediatley said "What's wrong, why aren't you eating your dinner!" (Eh, he's not 6yrs old - and the food was rank anyway!) He explained what they tell you to do in Motivation, she automatically assumed that he'd finished, just because he wasn't inhaling his food in like his family always do!! O:|

8yrs on and FIL still dishes out huge portions, and is very sarcastic when I constantly have to ask him for smaller portions - and then he has the cheek to get annoyed that food is being left on the plate.
