Here's a trick, get yourself some "salad plates" or what the likes of Dunnes seem to think are their side plates, in thier boxes of dinner sets.

I've heard of this before but must definately invest now, I only have big dinner plates or else little saucers so off I go later to pick up a few salad plates :thnk

I've lost 7 pounds since monday so half a stone in 4 days of dieting. All i done was cut out carbs, no bread, pasta rice, potato's, cereal etc. Been living on chicken, fish, salad, cottage cheese, ham, eggs and drinking load of water. Done no excersise yet going to start that now soon.

Well, here I am... A failure. I started this thread and still haven't even lost a pound!! Was sick last week, so I pigged out.

Starting afresh now though. I'm a disgrace.

I did nothing but eat all of last weekend - after all my gym visits and good intentions I fell at the first hurdle! Will weigh myself in the gym tomorrow but expect to have put ON weight if anything.

It's like once I start exercising I think it's a license to eat loads more, need to get out of that mindset!

4 days in the gym and I put ON a pound - serves me right for being such a pig all weekend.

But it's all the fat turning to muscle which weighs more ... Right?! :o0

Hey everyone, can I join in too?

I'm soooo ashamed to admit that I'm 11st 11lbs :-8 it's actually probably good that I that wrote it down because I have been in such denial about my weight as it crept on over the last 2-3 years. I somehow convinced myself that it wasn't very noticable and just avoided mirrors and cameras. But that's it I'm not fooling myself anymore, I'm getting married in a year and a half and I REALLY want to be a size 10!!!!

I think the weigh-in idea is very good. Although WW didnt work for me I think the weekly weigh in is definately insentive enough to make you make better choices, could work for here too.

I've been half following a sort of cave man diet (but not fully) but I find it so hard as I love carbs! BoR I'm going to check out the primal footprint diet - is it really difficult? I find the lack of (refined, i.e. bad) carbs tough going but then I notice my stomach is a lot flatter so it seems to be working. Lunch is the hardest meal I find - it's almost impossible to have a nice, filling lunch that doesn't involve some sort of bread/cheese/wheat ingredient.

Sorry Miz Mel - only getting back to you now. I forgot all about this... :-8

Anyway - Primal Blueprint not footprint :o0 It's a great diet, takes some getting used to but like you said the flat stomach really helps! I don't mind no bread or grains now, I'm so used to it. And if I ever do slip up; the indigestion and bloated stomach is all the reminder I need to put me off carbs again for a long while. But PB does allow sweet potato and wild rice so it's not anti carb - more anti grain. Did you have a look at PB website - The guy who runs it is called Mark Sisson and his wife Carrie is 53 and looks AMAZING! I mean this woman has the body of a woman in her twenties. But not plastic looking; very natural, doesn't believe in surgery or any of that kind of thing, just healthy living. http://www.marksdailyapple.com/ask-carrie-a-question/ Here is a section of the website dedicated to her; now a lot of the questions are menopause related so no good for us but some other things are interesting.

can I join?!! I don't consider myself to really need to lose weight as i'm a size ten but I have gained 8lb since I bought my wedding dress!! Its now 8.5 weeks until the wedding and so worried I will be squeezed in to the dress!!! I joined the gym 8weeks ago with every intention of going and losing the few pounds but then never did and gained 2lb more instead!! O:| O:| O:| Been to the gym three times this week already..just doing cardio stuff! But can't seem to cut down on my food intake (or my craving for high fat high salt carbs)..anybody have any advice on diets I could try (quick working ones if possible..will have to have my first fitting soon and dreading the thought of the dress being too small :o( )

BoR - that site looks great. Just had a quick peep but will have a proper look later on at home. I have been pretty good lately as going on hols on Saturday so bikini bod needs to look the part! :o0

Fredsmom - cardio isn't great to be honest when you're already thin. Ok, that sounds wrong, obviously any exercise is good, I mean, if you want to tone and lose weight quickly then resistance training, i.e. weights is best for you. For a quick fix - basically cut out/cut down dramatically on carbs is really the only answer I've found. If you are a major carb lover like me, then cut them out in the evening or ideally after about 1pm, i.e. have them for breakfast and lunch but not dinner. I recently did a detox/cave man type diet and lost 5.5 pounds in 12 days and I don't have much to lose. I did it by basically eating meat, eggs, green vegetables, oily fish, avocados and nuts for the 12 days. No dairy, no carbs, no sweet fruit (grapefruit is ok if you really want fruit), definitely no booze and no fizzy drinks. You can have sparkling water and tea or coffee (if you really want milk in them then have it). You can add any herbs or spices to your veggies and can stir fry them in olive oil rather than boiling them. It was really tough but as a quick fix, it was brilliant. PM me if you want more details on what exactly you can and can't eat.

I think it's time for me to join here! I was doing really well and have lost about 11lbs since July, but i just can't seem to get below a certain point!
I've been circling around the same couple of pounds for about 6 weeks now and i really need to get my backside in gear now cause i need to lose the weight to fit into my dress (bought a sample and it's too tight at the mo, although it didn't even close when i first bought it!)
So as of this morning i am 11' 10. My lowest so far has been 11' 8.5 and i just haven't been able to get below that! Been doing bootcamp twice a week for the last few months and am starting to add in a couple of walks/runs in between to start boosting things! Diet has been generally ok, but could be better... Starting to take an acai cleansing supplement thingy from tomorrow as i am severely bloaty at the mo, and could do with the help! I want to be 11 stone by christmas, and am not allowing myself to try on my dress again until i hit that goal! This is a great idea girls!

Like I said earlier it's not too much about the actual weight for me, it's more getting fit, eating healthier and toning up.

I'll be weighing myself once a week but I am in the 8.5 -9 stone band so I know that the actual weight itself isn't an issue, it's the jelly pot belly and saggy celulite bum that I'm more worried about! I was disheartened last Friday though when I had worked my tush off in the gym and still put on a pound. I have to learn to calm down at the weekends though, as soon as Friday evening comes around it's like I am allowed eat everything and anything I want until Monday morning and it undoes all my work from the week.

So I will weigh tomorrow evening in the gym and let you know if I've managed to at least stay the same!!

On the plus side I am managing to jog a good bit more on the the treadmill and feel great when I leave the gym - even if I do look like a big sweaty mess :o0
