thebeesknees - would that brownie recipe work without the nuts? Not a fan of nuts in cakes but that recipe sounds much less labour intensive compared to the brownies I usually make!

it sure would , i throw them in ( usually walnuts) when I have them cause we like the texture but like wise ive done these brownies without and they are fine....
its grand and quick and easy recipe found on the net .... Not exactly the perfect brownies but easy and taste good........

:) love to bake - just wish it would be kinder to my waistline!

for the traybake, I use around 15 digestive biscuits, 1/2 tin of condensed milk (rather than golden syrup, it keeps them moist I think), god few table spoons of cocoa (not as sweet as the chocolate) or a 1/3 or the aero bar melted (i find this too sweet), mix together in a bowl - then stick it in a tin. melt some mint aero (or normal) chocolate, spread it over the top of the biscuit mix and crush the remaining bar over the top while warm.

Can't bake but I'm enjoying drooling over this thread. Trying to convince hubby to make the baileys, malteaser and chocolate roulade though. He's the baker in this house.

That Baileys roulade sounds DIVINE! Next time I have to make cake for an occasion I know what I'm making! Not baking anything yet today girls, though I am going to meet a friend for lunch ni a place that she promises is crammed with cake...so I may come back inspired (and fit to burst :-8 )

I made these fantastic flapjacks - http://www.annabelkarmel.com/recipes/healthy-recipes/flapjack I didn't have golden syrup so used honey and used Aldi's dried tropical fruit mix and the their seeds in the red packed (dried cranberries, pumpkin seeds etc.). They were fab fab fab and a "healthier" treat for the kids.

My "specialty" is muffins. I make the nicest muffins (in my opinion :-8 ) ever and this week i have been experimenting with Strawberry Yoghurt, yummy and again a healthy treat/snack for the kids.

LMH - speaking of sneaking veg into kids you've just reminded me: I made Jamie Oliver's Frosted Squash Muffins for my little cousins birthday party a year or two ago. She comes up to me, halfway through her 3rd or 4th one and fixes me with "the beady eye" and says, "HippyChic, are there VEGETABLES in these buns??". I told her that there was and she cuts me another look (pure, you sly wagon, sneaking veggies into my food) and goes "Hmm, okay, I don't mind 'cos they're YUMMY!", gives me a big hug and ran off with more for her friends yelling "Hey, did you try my cousins veggie buns?" :o0

Just made these......

Chocolate Chip Cookies
125g/4oz butter or margarine
50g/2oz soft brown sugar
1 egg, beaten
150g/5oz self-raising flour
125g/4oz plain dark chocolate, finely chopped
Method
Preheat the oven to 180C (350F - Gas 4).

Lightly grease a baking sheet.

Cream the butter or margarine and sugar together until light and fluffy.

Add beaten egg, sift in the flour, and then add the chocolate pieces and mix thoroughly.

Put 15-20 teaspoonfuls of the mixture, slightly apart, on the baking sheet and bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.

Leave the cookies on a baking sheet for 1 minute, then transfer onto a wire rack and leave to cool.
