We are getting married in late 2013 so doing the budget now and it is coming in at about 19-20 not including honeymoon.

Please give me some tips on haggling. I do not know what to be saying to hotels etc.

Our hotels etc expecting u to do this?

Be great to get costs down.

Don't want to start married life in debt from the wedding but would love to keep out ideas for venue etc.

Our package was advertised at €60pp and we have it for €50 - includes 4 course meal, wine at meal, canapes, prosecco, evening food, centre pieces, chair covers/sashes, bathroom baskets, table plans, fairy light back drop, rooms for parents - having 150 people and 15 of those will be children with half meals so thats €7000 approx,

Band and DJ foe under €2000.00

Church singer/musician for €200

Photographer for €700 - disc only until we have extra cash,

Video - €700 - he is good but semi professional and will be there all day,

MUA €190 for 6

Hairdresser is my cousin,

Invites/mass booklets I will make myself - ebay is my friend there - €200

Pew ends - costing €12 for organza and ribbon - and nicking flowers from a few aunt's gardens :)

An aunt is making the cake,

Cousin is getting cheap deal on vintage car through a friend,

Veil is a tenner on ebay,

Shoes are £30,

Suits are €712 for 8 - Groom, BM, GM x 2, dads x 2 and my brothers as ushers x 2

Flowers - not sorted yet but €400 max budget,

My dress - parents are buying this and so I am trying to get it for less than €1000

BM dresses - lady in london will make them for the 3 girls for approx €400

With all the other small things I reckon we will come in at around €15,500.00

If we have anything left we will have a small honeymoon.

I'm trying to keep mine under 20,000 - seems crazy spending anymore! Like most the hotel/food is coming in at approx 10,000 for 110 people maximum.

Dress - parents buying it
Church / drinks reception music: 990
Photographer: 995 - CD only package - until we have more money to get an album
Cake: Mother making it
Flowers: Mother in law to be doing the flowers, church decoration & hotel bits and pieces
B/maid dresses: Cousin making flower girl dress, 3 bridesmaid dresses I plan to get on bridesmaids.com all three for a maximum 500
Band: 2,000
Videographer: only if we can afford it - so not booking anything just yet.
Honeymoon: Nothing deceided yet - waiting to see if we can afford it.
Invitations: Getting a local print shop to do up a plain postcard thing - maximum 100euro
Hairdresser for 5 people: 300
Makeup for 5 people: tbc but not paying more than 300.
Suits for Groomsmen etc: tbc
Cars: Uncle has a nice car so he is driving me

Think that's about it! :wv

Doh!!! I voted 10k-15k but H2B said we are in the 15k-20k. I'm actually gobsmaked at how much our wedding is costing!! It's not like there are loads of frills just band and DJ for entertainment. Cost of Weddings are ridiculous. But it's one special day in our lifes!!! :xox

Our budget was €7,000 and managed to stay within that. We had 72 guests. We had a lot of help from friends and family who took photographs; provided transport (for me and the parents); made the bouquets (my brooch bouquet and buttonholes, small bouquet for the lst minute bridesmaid); made the cakes (fruit cake and a cupcake for everyone). In addition a friend stepped in as DJ when our original one fecked off with our deposit - we just hired the equipment for the weekend. We had another friend make cocktails for us instead of expensive fizz for the drinks reception. We picked wild flowers for the tables so we saved there as well and my uncle bought my dress as a gift.

We did spend a lot on hiring the venue (an old country house) but that was the bulk of the spend. I think you can be canny about what you spend by thinking about what you really need on your wedding day. Having a late afternoon start for our civil ceremony helped, put quite simply the less time you have your guests hanging around the less food/drink you'll have to give them, now I sound like a cheapskate :innocent: We did have an amazing day though as will all of you

shumbles that's amazing that you managed all of that!! We have about 140 guests. Most of them are actually family so not much we can do about numbers. We have a very small amount of friends that are being invited!! Ours is a civil ceremony starting at 3.30pm Was that including your honeymoon? Our honeymoon is costing around €2600 for flights and Accommodation! So looking forward to honeymoon! :hyper:
