  • Vase-VaAse...or however you say it

    Friday 29 May 2022 - Decor Inspiration - Tags: vase-centre-piece

Karen and I found Etsy.com... so this most sunny of Fridays has been spent drooling over absurd light bulbs and awesome vases. Here is some fruit from our labour (my labour, Karen is busy with the bulbs).

Some of these vases are from ebay, and the white tall vases are from the Classic Bride blog (they are her own, she is selling them). You might think some of the are a bit odd, but you have to but them in the context of beautiful candleight and the right type of wedding. I think the rustic ones would be perfect for an outdoor or country themed event.Personally, I love the coloured ones, I think they would be perfect for sprucing up the 'standard' centre piece...

  • And for the Hair?

    Tuesday 26 May 2022 - Beauty - Tags: hair

Yesterday's research into veils got me thinking about my hair. My dress is strapless, mermaid cut, very classic in design (and the most beautiful thing I have ever seen!). So I want something that won't detract from the look. Also my fianc is a bit shorter than me so I don't want anything too high on my head. I also have a bit of insecurity about my ears...which goes back to my childhood and one kid calling me 'Dumbo'...oh the scars of an 8 year old boys flippant comment! Anywho I want to stay away from anything to severe. These are a couple I found.

Sometimes the best ideas come from outside where you are looking. I gathered a couple images that have inspired me to think beyond my wedding for my wedding...The first image is from a Martha Stewart blog, called Bluelines. The 2nd image is by the talented Rebecca Thuss , 3rd, 4th and 5th images are from Architectual Digest.inspiration 1inspiration 3

Tuesday 19 May 2022 - Decor Inspiration - Tags: venue

We decided today on our venue and date! So I guess I am really getting married! Is it weird that this commitment scares me more than the lifelong commitment I am making to my fianc? It is very exciting but extremely scary. I have 24 weeks to put together the wedding of my dreams...ahhh the pressure!

  • Floral Simplicity

    Friday 15 May 2022 - Flowers - Tags: centrepieces

A great floral centrepiece is automatic style. You don't need to go to extreme lengths; the flowers are enough on their own. I am trying to brain storm about how to have a creative and elegant floral centrepiece and not break the bank, as my flower budget seems to be shrinking with my venue choices! These are my favourite.

  • Colour On My Mind

    Wednesday 13 May 2022 - Colour Palettes - Tags: dresses-bridesmaids

Deciding colours has proven to be much more difficult than I expected. The wrong colour could throw the whole day off! I am set on the idea of letting the bridesmaids choose their own dresses (there are way to many body types for one dress to suit all of them). Blue seems a little risky to allow everyone to choose, so black might be the only option.

  • So It begins....

    Tuesday 12 May 2022 - Advice - Tags: None

engaged Weddings have made of my 9 to 5 for almost two years now. So when it came time to getting engaged I thought I was ready for it. I thought I had heard every engagement story, read every theory on guest lists (and resolving conflict regarding guest lists) and thought I knew the exact emotions I would feel as he slipped the ring on my finger...

    I was wrong.

Now, it is personal. It is my wedding. It is easy to give suggestions for someone else's big day, but when it is yours...only you (and possibly your fianc) feel the weight of each and every decision. And even though it will not be the end of the world if your invitation colour is a shade darker than your bridesmaid dresses...and no one but your mother would even notice, for some reason, as a bride-to-be, it matters.

We are at the beginning stages of our wedding plans. We are in the midst of deciding colours, which venue is best and how to pick a date that will please most of our guests (which is difficult because he is Irish and I am American).

Before me is the blank page of my wedding and even though I have written step-by-step guides to starting wedding plans, I am finding I am too scared to mar the page.

  • Our Favs - Save the dates

    Wednesday 6 May 2022 - Stationery - Tags: save-the-date

Some people may find it a tad narcissistic, but lately I'm noticing a trend of photographs in Wedding Stationary. From Save-the-Dates to invites to seating cards to table numbers, photos have taken 'the personal touch' to a whole new level. Be it old family photos found or forridged from nooks and crannies around the house, black and white art house images, couple pics shot off-the-cuff in a photobooth, or DIY photos of cute pets with bows, they're everywhere.

Postcards, bookmarks and fridge magnets...you can pretty much do what you want for Save the Dates so get creative!

  • Here comes the bride

    Wednesday 6 May 2022 - Uncategorized - Tags: engaged

This is a very quick note to say :) Congratulations Rachel and Mark!!!! :)rachel

Our very own B Editor Rachel Vowels got engaged this weekend in romantic Tuscany. We were jealous enough that Rach was going on holiday to beautiful Italy but when we saw her stunning engagement ring we very nearly shunned her!! Just kidding, we're delighted to have a bride-to-be in the office to perk up our days (it means we get to go for celebration lunches for two weeks!), so stay tuned to the B Blog and follow Rachel on her journey to the alter!!!

  • Where is my mind

    Wednesday 6 May 2022 - Uncategorized - Tags: None

It's been so super stressful here in the office this week with the mag going to print on Tuesday! At the moment I'm just living for this place this evening

    Blue light

    The Blue Light

It's become my local since moving half my wardrobe to his place for 'storage'. The walk up is a little straining for someone as mobidly unfit as myself but the quiet woods, majestic trees, quaint house and nooks and crannies along the way more than make up for it. The Blue Light sits on top of Sandyford overlooking Dublin Harbour. The Guinness is good and sometimes locals bring their dogs in. They all know each other (I think) and you can bring your own crisps without anyone batting an eyelid. It also has a nice warm fire to cure what ales ya. There's no place like home, there's no place like home....

  • The New Swap Shop

    Wednesday 6 May 2022 - Uncategorized - Tags: None

We may not have bucketloads of disposable cash to shell out to all the high street stores we pass on the way to Lidl, but that doesn't mean we can't have new outfits!!! Yep, it's a woman's way to find solutions to even the most impossible missions (Just think if Tom Cruise was a woman we mightn't have had to endure the 2nd installment of the M.I series...), and when it comes to clothes, where there's a will....

I came upon this site while reading my free (free being the operative word) Metro this morning. Basically we've all tired out our friend's wardrobes so much that some genious, in the form of www.bigwardrobe.com) has opened the wardrobes of stylish gal's all over the world. And we never wore the same outfit again...

Here's a sneak peak of what's on offer:
