  • Pretty in Pink

Tuesday 30 June 2022 - Colour Palettes - Tags: pink

I love pink... and I don't care who knows! If my wedding did not involve a male (not sure how that would work) I would be very tempted to deck out the entire event in luscious pinks. This montage are my favaourites from the latest B Magazine obsession, Martha Stewart. Her website is awesome, check it out for loads of DIY and inspiration ideas.

  • My wedding is real...

    Monday 29 June 2022 - Uncategorized - Tags: invitations-gifts-flowers

I have just spent the last week doing nothing but wedding plans and the wonderful but terrifying reality that my wedding is actually happening has set in. My fianc and I travelled to my home town in America to plan everything to do with our wedding. We had 5 short days to get it all done, all we had when we arrived was a venue...But I am happy to say we got everything (and then some) done. I have to admit, it feels great to have so much done and I feel even better about the decisions we made. Here are just a couple things we tied up...

Flowers: Basically my flower choice has become the theme of the wedding. I adore hydrangeas and so 100% of our flowers will be blue and cream hydrangeas. Everywhere. Seriously. They are too pretty on their own to put them with any other sort of flower.

Invitations: I fell in love with these from Happy Ever After, Karen is a dream to work with!

  • What happens in Vegas...

    Friday 12 June 2022 - Uncategorized - Tags: las-vegas

I have always wanted to say that. I am heading to Vegas tomorrow to meet my sisters and friends for my suedo hen party! I have never been before and I cannot even wait. Is it sad that the most exciting thing to me is getting a tan and eating Cheescake Factory (the Godiva cheescake is the most amazing thing in the world)? We are staying in the penthouse of the Bellagio!

  • Lighting

Monday 8 June 2022 - Decor Inspiration - Tags: lighting, decor, lanterns

The right lighting is one of the most overlooked details of a wedding. To really set the mood and tone for your day getting the right lights is imperative-and doesn't have to be expensive. Natural light can be beautiful, especially with stained glass (ie in the church) if you get a sunny day. But my favourite lighting is candle light. I love the softness of it, and all around natural romance. There are so many types of candle holders and votives that the possibilities are endless. Another trend is paper lanterns with LED candles or strings of bulbs. Here are some ideas:

  • Gifts for the Bridesmaids

    Friday 5 June 2022 - Advice - Tags: bridesmaids

I was thinking about bridesmaid gifts...what is a bridesmaid gift supposed to be? Just a gift of thanks? Or a keepsake? I have decided I want my gifts to be momentos of the day, and generally my relationship with each bridesmaid (there are 8, so its a big enough task!). I like the idea of jewellery. My recent addiction to etsy.com found me these little treasures.

  • Words of Wisdom from 2000 Dollar Wedding

    Thursday 4 June 2022 - Uncategorized - Tags: None

    Dearest Bride-to-Be:

The 12-18 months of wedding planning will pass in a matter of hours or days. When it’s all said and done, the photos will be the primary artifact remaining. My wish for you—when you look back at those photos—is for you to think:

Look at how relaxed I was. Fully present in the moment. Basking in it. Soaking it in. I was not saturated in stress. My shoes and dress were comfortable enough for dancing. My beauty radiated out of me; it was not applied to me.

I got to spend quality time with my friends and family. I was myself, not a show. In fact, I was my fullest expression of self. I do not remember whether the invitations were letterpress or whether the flowers at the ceremony were the same ones at the reception.

The wedding favors or the fanciness of the food did not make memories. The sincerity did. The connection did. The time together did.

It did not matter whether every last detail conformed to the signature colors. Instead of saying, “What a beautiful bouquet,” the guests said, “What a beautiful love.”

This is my wish to you, dear brides, as you poor over wedding magazines and read daily blogs. Some of it matters. Most of it does not. Casting your net in the wrong direction will most surely mean you miss the things you most dearly want to catch.

May your wedding be just one sincere, authentic, happiest day in a long line of many.

This is my wish to you.

    All my best,

    Sara

  • I just ate... Sweet buffet table ideas

Wednesday 3 June 2022 - Decor Inspiration, Colour Palettes, Wedding Food - Tags: candy, food, dessert, food-dessert

But I came across these succulent alternatives to the wedding cake...and I want to eat them! I am not doing a traditional cake, so these got me thinking about all the sweet alternatives (pardon the pun). I love the idea of using the colour of food to compliment a theme, and I love even more how much personality can be shown from such a simple thing.

  • DIY Wish List

    Tuesday 2 June 2022 - Decor Inspiration, DIY - Tags: invitations-centre-pieces, jars

I tried to make chocolate covered strawberries last night, all in an effort to become more like Martha Stewart (part of a 'traditional housewife' phase I am going through-when I realised I am getting married in five months and can't even make my beloved a simple casserole). It seemed like a simple thing to try...strawberries are already made, no hassle there...the recipe said all I needed to do was melt some semi-sweet chocolate chips, which I thought even I could do. Turns out chocolate chips don't just melt, or they don't when you add butter to them (I thought the butter would make it creamy...it didn't). I ended up with a chocolate powder-ish, marshmallow- type structure, which needless to say is not fit for dipping strawberries in. Project failed. It is a good thing my domestic prowess is not the reason my fianc is marrying me, and that he can cook really well! Anyways, it got me thinking about DIY and even though I would not dare try a DIY wedding project, I think people who can do it are so awesome! Here is my DIY wish list (things I wish I could do if I was not arts-and-crafts-inept).

  • I already have my dress, but if I didnt...

    Monday 1 June 2022 - Fashion - Tags: vera-wang-sassi-holford-priscilla-of-boston-oscar-de-la-renta-gowns-bari-jay

I already have my perfect gown (refer to the Vera Wang Sample Sale article). I love it more than I love most people (ok, that may be a tad extreme, but definitely more than I love most pets). It is amazing and just what I wanted. But it hasn't stopped me from looking at my favourite designers, which at the moment are; Vera Wang, Oscar de la Renta, Priscilla of Boston and Bari Jay. I was researching for the fashions of the autumn and had to share my favourites. I love lace, I love plush fabrics and I love simple silhouettes.

    Dress

I am a bit biased towards Vera Wang since she did my dress, but I think anyone can appreciate her talent for making the traditional so beautifully modern.

    Dress
These dresses are from Priscilla of Boston, Sassi Holford and Bari Jay. I love he fabric of the first one, the delicate details of the second and the amazing lace in the third.
